40 Years Of Punk Rock split CD ep with Fire Exit

November 18, 2016

back cover info (1)Veteran Glasgow Punk bands, The Zips and Fire Exit, have joined forces to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Punk Rock in the UK, by releasing a split CD EP, on the date that the first UK punk single, The Damned, New Rose, was spat out into the world, by Stiff Records.
The four songs on offer here, two from each band, showcase their strengths, while highlighting their varied musical approaches. Fire Exit, now including a harmonica player in their ranks, make good use of his skills on their back to back punk anthems, Changing and Hey Hey are you Ready to Go. Meanwhile, The Zips bookend the retro-styled cd, opening with the title track, and closing with a live performance from The Venue in London, in 1979, of their debut single, Don’t Be Pushed Around.
The bands will play some promotional dates together in Belfast & Dublin in November (see Gigs), with more UK shows to be announced.
40 years of Punk, who’da thunk it?!
